Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). She became a Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. 1981 she started covering at the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. She served as a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her contribution in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president between 1981 and 1988. Mitchell reported on a variety of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, and arms control. Mitchell traveled together with Ronald Reagan several times for summits, and to discuss matters including that of the Iran Contra controversy.
